About The Teacher

Welcome to grade 5! I am so excited to begin the 2015-16 school year! Get ready for an incredible experience at Dale Street...
I became a teacher because my 5th grade teacher (Mrs. Jane Mason) and my grandmother (taught 1st grade for 30 years) both inspired me to follow in their footsteps. Fifth grade was a year that was truly magical for me as a child. I hope to make your year a special one!
I remember every detail of my 5th grade year. We did "Star of the Week", and I wanted to implement it within my classroom too. It is my very favorite way to get to know each child. Each student will have his/her own week as our classroom "Star of the Week." There are a lot of fun activities that the "star" gets to do. My favorite activity is that I get to have lunch one day with the "star." It is so important to me that I have this special bonding time with each student!
Here is some information about me from our "Star of the Week" fact sheet.

Mission For The Class
We will create a classroom environment which is safe and helps each student set high expectations for him/herself. I believe that every child can learn-- no matter what. I strive to help my students foster a lifelong passion for learning by helping them feel success in the school environment. I am fortunate in that I have always loved books and reading. One of my main goals this year is to help my students fall in love with one book... hoping that this will transfer to other books and authors.
